From Concept to Production: An evening with Alison Cook Beatty Dance will begin at 7PM with a reception of free drinks and hors d’oeuvre. Art work and choreographic journal entries created by Alison and inspiration behind the works presented on the program that evening will be on display for people to view till 8PM.
The two-part program will include an inside look at the concepts and ways in which the dancers were crafted and the tools in which she used out of the inspiration behind these works. Alison and the dancers will demonstrate and explain these concepts together and show the process leading up to the work itself.
The latter half of the evening will include a full studio performance of three works. You will not only see a NEW WORK, a reconstructed work that has gone through three transitional changes, and a solo work danced by Alison over of a two year decade span, but you will see a glimpse of all of these transitional stages. Ending the evening there will be a brief question and answer session with the dancers and Alison. Don’t miss this special evening of the inner workings of the artist’s soul.
About Alison Cook Beatty Dance:
Alison Cook Beatty Dance, founded in 2012, is a classically based modern dance company exploring the universal human condition through expansive and emotionally driven movement grounded in American modern dance. The healing and transformational power of the arts inspires the company to work with diverse groups within the community, in addition to collaborative efforts with other artists. Under the artistic direction of Alison Cook-Beatty, her choreography has been commissioned by companies such as Ballet Next, Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Carolina Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet School NYC, Opera Dolce, The Boston Conservatory at Berklee Fort Hamilton High School, and NYU. The company has performed throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, California, Vermont, Washington D.C., and continues its rehearsal, performance, and community outreach events for 2017.
